The Spine is looking at the clouds. One looks like a dog. Rabbit is mad because he thinks the cloud looks like an octopus. Not a dog. The Jon was tired after chasing a butterfly everywhere. Upgrade is trying to guilt-trip Pappy into letting them get ice cream. Hatchy is just happy to spend time with his family.

Headcanon:
Since the bots have Blue Matter running in their systems, it has a strange effect on their metal plates. It allows them to crinkle and bend as if it were skin, but only when the plates are attached to the bot. Once a piece of metal is removed, it becomes hard and unbendable again. That’s how the bots can make such a wide variety of facial expressions, the Blue energy allows them to bend and mold without breaking.
Take one of Rabbit’s faceplate from the hall of faces. You hold it, it’s hard, solid copper. Rabbit puts it on and it’s wrinkling, stretching and shifting like flesh.
